Shiv Chalisa is the most popular and influential hymn of worship in India and Pakistan. Shiv chalisa is also popularly known as "Shri Guru Ravidas" and "Shiv bhajan". The original version of this hymn was written by the saint named Shri Guru Ravidas, who lived at the times of Maratha Peshwas. The hymn was for chanting by devotees after he came to know about the importance of this particular hymn.
